09:30 AM — Meet & Greet
Your guide meets you at the cruise port, we wait at the cruise port’s exit gate holding a name card so you can find us the moment you step off. If you are staying at a hotel in Khasab, our guide meets you at the hotel reception at the given time and starts the tour from there.
10:00 AM — Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque
The mosque is only open 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, so the day starts here first. Built in traditional Omani style, with white domes and a single minaret rising over the town, it’s the largest mosque in Khasab and still an active place of worship, not a tourist site converted for visitors. If timing allows, you’ll step inside to see the prayer hall, its carpeting, and the intricacy of the ceiling work up close. If the visit falls outside opening hours, it’s a stop for the exterior view instead, the mosque is still worth seeing from the courtyard even without going in.
10:45 AM — Khasab Fort
Built by the Portuguese in the early 17th century to guard the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, later taken over by the Omanis, who used it first as a military base and then as a city prison. The fort’s central watchtower and surrounding walls once served as a working fortress before becoming the museum it is today. Inside, the rooms hold a genuine cross-section of Musandam’s history, jewelry, traditional clothing, old weapons, wedding decorations, and household kitchen equipment, arranged the way they’d have actually been used rather than behind sterile glass cases. Climb to the top of the tower for a view over Khasab’s rooftops and the harbor beyond. The fort stays open until 5:00 PM, so there’s no rush here.
11:30 AM — Old and New Souk
The tour passes through both sides of Khasab’s souk, the old town’s narrow strip of traditional stalls selling spices, dates, and local handicrafts, and the newer commercial souk just beside it, where shops serve daily life rather than tourists. There’s time to walk through both, watch the town go about its regular business, and pick up something small if you want a real souvenir rather than a port-side one.
12:00 PM — Wadi Qadah, Rock Carvings at Tawi
The road follows Wadi Qadah into the village of Tawi, where a cluster of boulders carries petroglyphs carved into the rock face roughly two thousand years ago, camels, ships, and human figures, some believed to depict warriors. Unlike the fort or the mosque, these carvings were never built for anyone to see, they’re a record left by the people who lived in this valley long before Khasab existed as a town, and they’re easy to miss entirely if you don’t know exactly where to look.

Cruise ship guests are dropped at the port with time to spare before departure. Hotel guests are dropped back in Khasab.
