What Makes This Tour Different
Most Musandam tours give you the water or the mountains. This one gives you both, a full day cruising the fjords followed by a full day off road into Jebel Al Harim, without booking two separate trips. You choose how you experience it too, a fully private boat and vehicle for your group, or a shared cruise and camp with a private safari the next day, whichever fits your group and budget.
Day one ends somewhere no road reaches, anchored in the fjords or camped at Saif Al Ghareeb. Day two takes you from sea level to 1,784 meters on Jebel Al Harim, passing Khor Najd, Bait Al Quful and Wadi As Sayah along the way, real stops with real names, not just scenery on the way to a viewpoint.
Musandam Trip 2 Days Itinerary
Day 1 — Full Day Cruise (Both Options) 10:00 AM - 04:00 PM
09:30 AM — Dockside at Khasab Port
Your dhow and crew are ready at the dock. Board when you arrive, get settled on deck and the crew serves Arabic coffee, tea, fresh fruits and soft drinks while the boat prepares to depart.
10:00 AM — Dhow Departs into Khor Sham
The dhow leaves Khasab port and turns into Khor Sham, with the fjord walls rising on both sides as the boat moves deeper into the water.
10:45 AM — Dolphin Watching
Spinner and humpback dolphins are common in these waters. The crew slows the boat when they appear, often close enough to watch from the deck.
11:30 AM — Telegraph Island
The dhow anchors at Telegraph Island, named after the British relay station built here in 1864. Snorkeling gear and kayaks go in the water.
01:00 PM — Lunch on Deck
Lunch comes out as the dhow moves toward Seebi Island. Fried chicken, lentil curry, mixed vegetable curry, rice, Arabic bread, hummus and salad, with soft drinks and water throughout.
02:00 PM — Seebi Island, Afternoon Swim
The second snorkeling stop of the day, with clearer water and more visible coral than Telegraph Island.
Day 1 — Evening, Option 1 (Private) 04:00 PM - 09:00 AM
04:00 PM — Dhow Continues, Private Boat
Your dhow stays out on the water rather than returning to port, private to your group for the rest of the day.
05:00 PM — Anchor Overnight in the Fjords
The dhow finds its spot deep in Khor Sham and drops anchor for the night, the fjord walls rising on both sides as the water flattens out.
07:00 PM — Dinner on Deck
Dinner is grilled fresh and served on deck as the sun goes down over the mountains, grilled chicken, kebabs, fried fish, rice, Arabic bread, hummus and salad, with soft drinks and water throughout.
Overnight — Anchored in Khor Sham
Individual mattresses, pillows, blankets and bed sheets are laid out on the deck. The rear half of the deck sits under a fixed roof, the front half under a shade cloth, guests can sleep under the open sky or under cover depending on preference. With the boat anchored deep in the fjord, the wind drops and the water goes flat and quiet for the night.
07:30 AM — Breakfast on Deck
Breakfast is served as the fjords come to life in the morning light, boiled eggs, yogurt, jam, bread, coffee, tea and fresh juice.
09:00 AM — Return to Khasab Port
The dhow lifts anchor and heads back toward Khasab, retracing the same stretch of Khor Sham in the morning light. The safari vehicle is waiting to begin day two at the port.
Day 1 — Evening, Option 2 (Shared) 04:00 PM - 09:00 AM
04:30 PM — Arrival at the Beach Camp
Tents, sleeping mats, blankets and pillows are already set up by the crew. Chairs, dining tables and a decorated Majlis are ready on arrival.
06:30 PM — Campfire and Evening Setup
As the sun drops behind the mountains, the crew lights the campfire and sets up music and lighting around the camp.
07:00 PM — BBQ Dinner on the Beach
Dinner is grilled on site and served around the campfire, grilled chicken, kebabs, fried fish, rice, Arabic bread, hummus and salad, with soft drinks and water throughout.
Overnight — Saif Al Ghareeb Beach
Guests sleep in tents pitched directly on the sand. With no road reaching this stretch of coast, there is no light beyond the camp itself and no sound beyond the water and the wind.
07:30 AM — Breakfast at Sunrise
Breakfast is served on the beach as the sun comes up over the water, boiled eggs, yogurt, jam, bread, coffee, tea and fresh juice.
09:00 AM — Return to Khasab Port by Speed Boat
A speed boat collects guests directly from Saif Al Ghareeb beach and runs back to Khasab port, where mountain safari vehicle is waiting for day two.
Day 2 — Mountain Safari (Both Options) 09:00 AM - 01:30 PM
09:30 AM — Departure from Khasab
Your guide and driver collect you from Khasab port. The 4×4 heads straight into the mountains, the coast disappearing behind you within minutes.
09:45 AM — Khor Najd Viewpoint
The road climbs to a ridge above Khor Najd, the only bay in Musandam accessible by road. The inlet sits far below, surrounded by bare rock on all sides.
10:45 AM — Wadi As Sayh Bedouin Village
The route drops into Wadi As Sayh, a Bedouin village on a plateau at 1,100 meters. The village is still inhabited, with goats moving freely between the stone houses.
11:15 AM — Jebel Al Harim Summit
The 4×4 reaches the summit of Jebel Al Harim, the Mountain of Women, the highest point in the Musandam Peninsula at 2,087 meters.
11:30 AM — Fossil Viewing at the Summit
The limestone at the summit contains marine fossils dating back 50 million years, shells, coral and sea creatures visible in the rock face.
12:30 PM — Return to Khasab
The 4×4 makes its way back down from the mountains, retracing the same route to Khasab, the two day trip drawing to a close as the coast comes back into view.
01:00 PM — Lunch at Al Shamalia Grill and Restaurant
If transport from UAE was booked, guests are dropped directly at the restaurant, with a table already reserved under their name, and the driver returns afterward to continue the journey back. Guests on the self drive option are dropped at the same morning collection point, then make their own way to the restaurant to enjoy lunch at the reserved table.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the private and shared options?
Option 1 is fully private, a private boat overnight in the fjords and a private safari vehicle the next day, for your group only. Option 2 joins a shared cruise and beach camp on day one, with a private safari vehicle still included for day two. Both cover the same route and stops, the difference is whether you share the boat and camp with other guests.
How many people can book, and is there a minimum?
Both options require a minimum of 2 adults to book. Kids are welcome beyond that at the child rate, but the 2 adult minimum covers the cost of running the tour. There’s no fixed maximum group size, the private boat holds up to 35 guests and the shared beach camp up to 75, with additional safari vehicles arranged for groups larger than 5, since each vehicle fits 5 people.
Where do I sleep, on the boat, at the beach camp, or does it depend on which option I choose?
It depends on your option. Guests on the private cruise sleep on deck, with mattresses, pillows, blankets and bed sheets laid out under a partial roof and shade cloth. Guests on the shared option sleep in tents at the Saif Al Ghareeb beach camp, set up by the crew before arrival.
What happens if I book transport from Dubai versus self drive?
If you book transport from UAE, our driver picks you up and handles the journey to Khasab port, and drops you directly at the restaurant for lunch after the mountain safari, returning afterward to continue the journey home. If you self drive, you are responsible for crossing the border yourself, and after the safari you return to the same morning collection point before making your own way to the restaurant.
Is the mountain safari difficult, and is it suitable for children or elderly guests?
The safari runs on off road, unpaved and bumpy mountain tracks. It is not recommended for guests with back problems, pregnancy, or serious heart conditions. Most children and elderly guests in good general health manage the trip comfortably, but let us know your group’s needs when booking so we can advise properly.
What documents and visa do I need for this trip?
You need a passport with a minimum of 90 days validity from your travel date. UAE residents also need an Emirates ID with a minimum of 90 days validity, confirmed at the time of booking. Single entry visa holders, guests with a visa in process or pending status, and dependent visa holders without their sponsor present are not accepted at the border. We confirm your eligibility when you book.
